My goal is to create finely crafted black and white prints that reflect my vision of the landscape. I make the prints with a hybrid process, combining traditional film photography and state-of-the-art digital printing.
The images are initially captured on black and white film (currently large format 4x5-inch film) and scanned at high resolution. The images are then printed digitally with custom-mixed carbon pigment inks on acid-free fine art paper (currently Hahnemuhle Photo Rag).
The prints are true to the subjects as originally captured, and no manipulation beyond what was typically possible in a traditional darkroom is done (although it can now be done with far more control, complexity, and precision than previously possible). The resulting prints exhibit a unique blend of detail, luminance, and tonality that give them a look all their own.
Those who exhibit or acquire my work can be assured that the prints are crafted to the highest aesthetic and archival standards.
